Most businesses only need an ink company stamp. Some also want a common seal: the traditional seal a company presses onto formal documents such as share certificates and deeds. Our Pocket Seal (Common Seal) is a compact, hand-held version you can order from the same page as your stamp.
What a pocket seal is
A pocket seal is a small hand-held embossing seal. You slide the edge of the paper between its jaws and squeeze, and your company's design is pressed into the paper as a raised impression. There is no ink, so there is nothing to dry or smudge. Because the impression is part of the paper itself, an original is easy to tell from a photocopy.

When companies use a common seal
Since 2017 a Singapore company does not need a common seal at all, and it can sign deeds without one. Many companies keep one anyway: because their constitution provides for it, because they like to seal share certificates, or because a bank, landlord or overseas partner asks for a sealed document. We explain the rules and the usual situations in when a Singapore company still uses a common seal, and the difference between the two tools in company stamp vs common seal.
How to design and order one
- Open the buy page and choose Pocket Seal (Common Seal) under Product. The same choice is on the free generator, and on Upload Your Design if you already have artwork.
- Design it exactly like a stamp: your registered company name around the top, your UEN in the centre, and the border and icons you like. The ink colour and stamp size fields disappear, because the seal is always 35mm with no ink, and the preview is shown in black.
- Choose 1 or 2 seals and a delivery speed, then add it to your cart. It can go in the same order as your stamps.
Check the details carefully before you order: the name must match your registration exactly, and the UEN should be copied, not typed from memory. Our list of common company stamp mistakes applies to seals too, and you can share the design for approval with your fellow directors first.
Designing for an embossed impression
An embossed impression has no colour, only light and shadow, so simple designs read best. Bold text, a clear UEN and a plain border come out more crisply than fine lines, tiny icons or a detailed logo. At 35mm, a long company name also has more room than on a 22mm stamp.
What you receive
As with a stamp, your order includes the digital files of your design, a transparent PNG and true-size print-ready PDFs, so you can reorder the same seal later. See what you receive with your order.
